Tired Ass

This ass is running on fumes, spite, and the large coffee they are currently threatening. They said yes to everything, and the bill has come due, all at once, on a Monday. There are bags under their eyes with bags of their own. They have forgotten what a full night of sleep feels like and refer to weekends as a rumor. And yet they keep going, on caffeine and sheer refusal, carrying more than anyone signed up for. Ask how they are and they will laugh, in a way that is not entirely a laugh. A burnt-out legend held together by to-do lists and the promise of a nap that never quite comes.
