This ass did not build a fast team. They acquired one. Why develop talent slowly when you can simply recruit it, fully formed, from somewhere else and slap your logo on it at the finish? Their squad is a transfer portal in singlets, a roster of ringers assembled by budget rather than by coaching. They speak of program culture and grassroots development while the actual runners were, in fact, imported at considerable expense last season. The trophies are real. The homegrown story is not. A general manager masquerading as a mentor, winning championships with a team they purchased outright and a straight face they clearly practiced.
